March 17th - Pecha Kucha Anyone?
How many times have you suffered from "Death by Powerpoint?" If this is you, come check out "Pe-Chak-Cha", the fast-growing global presentation format in which content can be easily and efficiently be shown. Using this format, a presenter shows 20 images for 20 seconds apiece, for a total time of 6 minutes, 40 seconds. This technique is perfectly suited for presentations, as it keeps the content very concise in order to encourage audience attention. In this brown bag you will see student Pecha Kucha's from Sean Seepersad's Family Relations class and have the opportunity to hear guest speakers from the local Pecha Kucha group through Creative Fresno.

Options and Alternatives to Microsoft Office
Here are some options for common tasks like word processing, spreadsheeting, and presenting.
- Microsoft is encouraging students to "steal" Office for $59.95 (http://www.theultimatesteal.com/).
- A free alternative is Google Docs (http://docs.google.com).
- Another free alternative (if you are comfortable with installing open source software) is OpenOffice: http://www.openoffice.org.
